在森林裡，有一頭驢子在路旁撿到一張完整的獅子皮，他心想：「我可以披著獅子皮，假裝是獅子來嚇其他人。」於是驢子高興的披著獅子皮走來走去，嚇唬其他的動物。小白兔和小山羊走在路上，看到驢子從遠處走過來，就好像是獅子一樣，嚇得趕緊逃走，驢子看到後忍不住哈哈大笑。
有一天，當驢子又披著獅子皮的時候，得意洋洋的走在森林中，遇到一隻小狐狸，小狐狸第一次看到獅子差點被嚇的半死，一溜煙的跑走。第二次又遇到披著獅子皮的驢子，心裡頭很害怕，就躲在樹叢裡，偷偷看著驢子走過去。
第三次，遇到披著獅子皮的驢子的時候，小狐狸終於鼓起勇氣和驢子說話：「獅子大哥，你為什麼在森林裡走來走去呢？」驢子哈哈大笑說：「你們都被我騙了，我根本不是獅子，我只是披著獅子的外皮而已！」小狐狸這才明白原來這只是一頭驢子，根本不會傷害別人。
這個故事告訴我們，對於不了解的事物，除了用眼睛觀察以外，還要實際去接觸了解，才不會被事物的外表欺騙。
In the forest, there was a donkey who found a complete lion’s skin by the side of the road. He thought to himself, “I can put on the lion’s skin, and pretend to be a lion to scare others.” So, the donkey happily put on the lion’s skin and started to walk around to frighten the other animals. A little white rabbit and a little goat were strolling on the road, when they saw the donkey walking towards them from far away. Since the donkey looked like a lion, both of them were so scared that they ran away quickly. Seeing this, the donkey couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
One day, while wearing the lion’s skin again, the donkey was strutting around in the forest. He met a little fox. The first time the little fox saw the lion, he was terrified, and ran away as fast as he could. The second time he saw the donkey in the lion’s skin, he still felt very afraid. So, he hid behind some bushes and watched as the donkey wearing the lion’s skin walked by.
The third time the fox saw the donkey in the lion’s skin, he gathered his courage and asked, “Brother Lion, why do you keep walking around in the forest?” The donkey laughed and said, “I fooled all of you! I’m not really a lion, I’m just wearing a lion’s skin!” Only then did the fox realize that the lion was actually a harmless donkey.
This story teaches us that when we come across something new, besides just looking at it, it is important to actually get close and understand it, so we are not fooled by how it looks.
